In order to cut down on the number of animals in need to rescue and rehoming we carefully screen all potential adopters to ensure that the animals are adopted into appropriate, responsible, loving homes this time around. Here is what is asked of a potential adopter: * Adoption Application.  There is an Adoption Application that must be completely filled out that asks questions about you, your family, your living situation, what you want in a rat/mouse, and how the rat/mouse will be cared for.  A link is provided at the bottom of this page.   * Interview. Once the Adoption Application is completed and approved the potential adopter is interviewed.  The interview may be in person or over the telephone.  The interview involves going over the Application paperwork and answering any outstanding questions.  It gives us a chance to get to know you and be sure that the rat/mouse will be a good match for you. * Contract. The potential adopter is required to sign a contract.  The contract states that the adopter will take full responsibility for the rat/mouse, that the animal will be given proper and humane care, that if the adopter can no longer keep the animal the person from whom they adopted the animal from would be notified and have the animal returned to them. * Pick Up. The adopter will be expected to pick up the rat/mouse at the animal's foster home.  Keep in mind that we have foster homes in various locations. In some cases arangements can be made to meet at shows or adoption events. * Donation. The average donation fee is $5 per mouse and $10 per rat. Rats and mice currently in Recycled Rodents foster care can not be shipped. We would be happy to work with potential adopters from other areas, however rats and mice must be picked up from their foster homes and appropriate travel arangements made.
